Biscayne Landing Project Undergoes Major Change

I’ve been obsessively following the condo market in major cities. As i have mentioned before, luxury condo projects in Florida have proven to be a bit vulnerable. The latest news is that Biscayne Landing, a large luxury project on city-owned land in North Miami will be overhauled to add more offices, stores and low-rise dwellings. The plans originally called for 6,000 residences but now the plans are up in the air and according to the Miami Herald, planning commission chairman Kevin Seifried fears that the project will not get off the ground for a while, if at all. The new design includes 174,000 square feet of retail space and more office and hotel space is also proposed. This isn’t the first time we have seen condo space shift to hotel/retail space. It makes me wonder what the future will be for the many condo-hotel projects that are currently in the works.

Send Your Stuff Into Space

If you don’t have the cash or the sea legs for your own space tourism flight there is another option, you can send your stuff into space.  ZG Aerospace will send your things into space, give them a few brief minutes of weightlessness and bring them back safe and sound. Their nearly 20-foot tall rocket will give a ride to business cards ($49.95 each), titanium rings ($249.95) or anything you can shove into a one inch square box ($995.95). Their maiden flight is set to take off  in July so get your order in now.

Oprah’s New Plane

We recently mentioned Oprah’s home improvements. Ever wonder how she commutes to her California home when she does her show in Chicago? Private plane, of course, and she will soon have a new plane to decorate. It has been reported that she will soon receive a custom-built Global Express XRS from Bombardier Aerospace. The $47-million executive jet has seating for 10 passengers and has a leather interior with designer fixtures for the bathroom and galley. There is an aft stateroom for naps as well as a crew rest area and of course a large main cabin with every amenity Oprah could possibly require.

Rare A-20 Rare War Plane For Sale

You are looking at the only Douglas A-20 capable of flight is for sale. This rare plane, which has been exhibited in several flight museums, was impeccably restored. This plane was part of three different Air Force units as a trainer but was never in combat. After World War II, it was part of the 474 military planes sold to Paul Mantz, one of Hollywood’s most famous stunt pilots, for use in movies and as camera planes. The plane was later sold, abandoned and then bought and restored by William J. Farah in 1970. It has bounced in and out of museums including the National Air & Space Museum, the Liberal Flight Museum and the  Lone Star Flight Museum. It is selling for $1,150,000 through Courtesy Aircraft.

Take A Helicopter To JFK Airport

If you’ve ever done the slow crawl through traffic to or from JFK Airport to Manhattan you might have wished for some way to get above the press of cars. Well, the flying car hasn’t been perfected yet so a helicopter will have to do. US Helicopter flies to and from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport near the New York Stock Exchange every half hour from 7am to 7pm for $159 each flight and takes just eight minutes.

Googlejet Versus other Rides

Hot on the heels of my post two days ago, reader Nick is quick to point out his own post on the 767 recently acquired by Google’s Brin and Page and how it measures up to other rides of famous CEOs.  The post shows how the 48.5m Googlejet stacks up next to Microsoft’s Paul Allen’s 757 and Oracle’s Larry Ellison’s Gulfstream V and is rife with conspicuous sexual innuendo.  Absent, however, are the lengths of Allen’s Octopus at 127m or the 138m Rising Sun owned by Ellison.
