Biscayne Landing Project Undergoes Major Change

I’ve been obsessively following the condo market in major cities. As i have mentioned before, luxury condo projects in Florida have proven to be a bit vulnerable. The latest news is that Biscayne Landing, a large luxury project on city-owned land in North Miami will be overhauled to add more offices, stores and low-rise dwellings. The plans originally called for 6,000 residences but now the plans are up in the air and according to the Miami Herald, planning commission chairman Kevin Seifried fears that the project will not get off the ground for a while, if at all. The new design includes 174,000 square feet of retail space and more office and hotel space is also proposed. This isn’t the first time we have seen condo space shift to hotel/retail space. It makes me wonder what the future will be for the many condo-hotel projects that are currently in the works.
