Cote, who was previously chief executive of Rogers Sugar Income Fund and has held senior posts at forest products makers Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. (Toronto:A.TO - news) and Kruger Inc., will take up his new title on Monday.
The top post at Bombardier’s business aircraft unit had been held on an interim basis by Pierre Beaudoin, president and chief executive of Bombardier Aerospace.
Cote has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and is a licensed private pilot, Bombardier said.
Bombardier, the world’s top maker of trains and third-largest civil aircraft maker, builds three families of business jets — Learjet, Challenger and Global.
Brisk demand for business jets over the past few years has helped Bombardier’s aerospace unit offset a slump in the market for regional aircraft.
